My new favorite.

I finally finished what is now my most favorite piece ever!! I'm looking at it as I type this and I'm in love!!

Here's a reminder of what she looked like before:
And here she is now:
Before:
Now:
I spent more time on this piece than on anything else I've ever remade - staining this gem was most definitely a labor of love but I absolutely adore the results!
And as you can see, it's new home is in my living room - so it will serve more as a buffet than an actual dresser. I'm not really sure what to put on top of it so for now my little artichoke lamp sits by itself enjoying the view!

Next up - curtains, an area rug and addressing my trunk coffee table. Oh and a new sofa is also in the cue - my sofa is from the 1970's and currently slip covered which is why I try to not take pictures of it...but it's obviously just outside the above shot.

I know curtains and a rug will help warm up the room but I'm still looking for the perfect ones.  Actually, I've already found the perfect curtains but $110 for one panel is just a tad above budget :-)
So until I find the perfect and affordable curtains and/or fabric, my blinds will be just fine!

And just a reminder this dresser/buffet was only $20!! I spent about $35 on supplies - including stain, gloves, staining sponges, sealer, primer, oil rubbed bronze and white semi-gloss spray paint.
$55 TOTAL!

And once again thank you to the Harbaugh Family for generously parting with the dresser and allowing me to give it a new life!

  4. Wow! I love the transformation, it's gorgeous, you made it look like if you spend a fortune on a new piece of furniture. I love what a little paint & money or no money in some cases can do for old furniture, amazing! :)

  7. I absolutely love this idea! I recently was given an old dresser that I didn't know what to do with because I wasn't happy with its look at all, and it just didn't go with the look that I want in my new apartment. Now I have a way to make it fit into my living space! Do you think it would be an all right idea to put a television on top of it like your sister did with hers and then store DVDs or CDs in the drawers out of sight??

I love your blog, by the way! So awesome! It has inspired me to write my own once I start moving into my apartment! Thank you!!

    1. Thank you, Heather! That's so sweet of you...totally made my morning!! And yes...I totally think it's fine to use a dresser as an entertainment center! I'm currently using my aqua dresser as one. It's perfect because it's large enough for the TV, lamps, a tray or other accessories plus the storage makes it perfect! Good luck on your project. Where's your blog? I'd love to check it out.

  8. Well, I'm currently moving into a small apartment much like your space only mine's a studio apartment with a sleeping alcove, so I'm looking for some stylish ideas that are good with storage. Hence the DVD storage in the dresser drawers!

Currently I only have one post on my blog, but I've made it my goal to start writing more. You can check it out at: http://hbryant11.blogspot.com/ I've attempted to make a personalized web name for this, but it doesn't work. ): Definitely a sad day.

I'm also following you on Pinterest! My name is Heather, and I'm addicted to Pinterest. Haha.

  9. Wow! I soo like your dresser's new face! The beauty was already there, but it looked more classy and sophisticated in black and white! You did a great job! But I wish you also repainted the chest so that it would complement with your dresser.
