The little rocking chair that could.

I have something very special to share with you guys today!! This little rocking chair was one of the many amazing finds discovered in my grandfather's garage! It was dusty, dirty and dingy! There was no longer a cushion and the piece of fabric that remained was nailed in but tore off in shreds the minute I touched it. It definitely needed some TLC.
So I ripped off the leftover fabric, lightly sanded, primed and gave it a few coats of spray paint in a high gloss apple red! I made a cushion out of some fun black and white hounds tooth and I was done!
Actually, I wish it was as easy as I just made it out to be. I thought the cushion was going to be the death of me! I don't sew. And when trying to make a cushion, not knowing how to sew makes it exactly 312% harder that it should be! So I improvised, I cut out 2 squares of fabric and used fabric glue to glue 3 sides together and then tore apart an old pillow just to use the inside cushion parts. Only it was really lumpy and completely unappealing after it was stuffed. So after a few curse words adjustments and the generous use of my staple gun and some hot glue, my cushion was done!
I'm officially over all of the angst it caused me because thankfully, I LOVE the result!  I especially love the simple, clean lines and the cute little circular edges.

And the black and white with the red - love it!

I'm so glad I was able to salvage this little guy! Hopefully, it'll bring lots of joy to someone as it will be going up on Craigslist soon! But if anyone that I actually know is interested in buying it, just holler!

  2. Rachel my dear...another gem. However, I think as your best friend I can say...you might want to consider taking a sewing class. Just think of how your business can boom if you had that skill under your belt. Oh wait...nevermind, Raresh can do it. LOL---Seriously...Love it!
